Cod is the common name for the genus Gadus of demersal fishes, belonging to the family Gadidae. The two most important species of cod are: Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua), which lives in the colder waters and deeper sea regions throughout the North Atlantic. At NutraPro International Virgin Cod Liver Oil is made using Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua). The Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus), found in the Eastern and Western regions of the Northern Pacific. The Atlantic cods can change color at certain water depths. It has two distinct colors: grey-green and reddish brown. Its average weight is 11-26 lbs with maximum recorded weight of 212 lbs.
